Care & Handling
A quick guide to keeping your 3D-printed CD.Forge pieces looking and working their best. Individual listings may add care notes specific to that item — always follow those when they differ from the general guidance below.
What your item is made from
Most CD.Forge physical items are 3D printed in PLA, a durable plant-based plastic used widely for display, organization, and hobby accessories. Each piece is printed one layer at a time, so light layer lines, small seams, and subtle surface texture are a normal part of the process — not a defect. A listing notes when a different material or special finish is used.
Keep it away from heat & direct sun
This is the one that matters most. PLA can soften, bend, or warp when it gets hot, so where you keep your item makes the biggest difference in how long it lasts.
- Keep it indoors, at normal room temperature.
- Display it out of long stretches of direct sunlight.
- Don't leave it in a hot car, even for a short time.
- Don't set it on a sunny windowsill, near a heater, vent, or radiator.
- Don't use it outdoors or anywhere it's exposed to weather.
Cleaning
Gentle is all it needs. A quick wipe keeps prints looking their best without stressing the material.
- Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- For textured surfaces, a soft dry brush lifts dust from the grooves.
- Don't put it in a dishwasher, microwave, oven, dryer, washing machine, or boiling water.
- Don't soak it or use harsh cleaners, solvents, or bleach.
Magnets & small parts
Some CD.Forge products use strong neodymium magnets or include small parts, and the listing notes when they do. They aren't toys — a little care keeps everyone safe.
- Keep magnetic and small-part items away from young children and pets.
- Keep strong magnets clear of pacemakers and other medical devices, credit and hotel key cards, and hard drives.
- Don't let anyone handle loose magnets — a swallowed magnet is a medical emergency that needs immediate attention.
- Don't keep using an item if a magnet comes loose; set it aside and message us with photos so we can make it right.
First use & fit
Parts that press or slide together — like storage-box lids and stacking modules — are printed to a snug, secure tolerance. That firmness is intentional: it's what holds pieces closed and aligned. Over the first several opens the fit wears in and becomes smoother. If something ever feels genuinely stuck rather than just firm, message us and we'll help.
